Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus

Merry Christmas to all my readers! Instead of writing something for Christmas, here is a hymn by Charles Wesley back in the year 1744. I think it sums up our prayer to God during this Christmas season.

Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus
by Charles Wesley

"Come, Thou long-expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find out rest in Thee
Israel's strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear Desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

Born thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a King
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By thine all sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne"

  1. Do you know the tune of the hymn? It would work perfectly with the melody of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"

    1. That is very funny! I didn't notice that the words fit to that tune! =) But no, that is not the original melody...here is a link to the song performed by Fernando Ortega. (this not the original edition)
