IT'S COVER REVEAL DAY.
But first, some rambling.
Once upon a time, God inspired me to write a short story. I shared it, and two girls scribbled their feedback on the edge of the paper: This story should be part of a longer work.
I laughed - no way! I was busy, too busy for a new story. But I tucked the papers away so I could read their comments again.
And God worked.
He threaded new ideas into my little piece of imagination. He turned my modern story into an allegorical fantasy. He held my hand every step of the way. And today, He brought so many encouraging, beautiful people together to help with the cover reveal.
I'm overwhelmed. That the Lord loves like this, that people choose to support and celebrate and cheer The Torch Keepers into life.
Thank you. ♥ And please, please let Jesus be the center of your life, your writing, your gifts. He does change the world.
Ready for the cover?
My cover designer, Alea, has been working on this since she heard The Torch Keepers' name.
Here's her story.
AHHHH IT’S TIME FOR HOSANNA’S COVER REVEAL!
Her book is beautifully written (it’s almost poetry, guys)
and has so much heart. I’m in love
with all of her characters (except the ones I want to slam into a wall…you know
who you are). This is definitely one to be excited about.
A few months ago, Hosanna asked me to make the official cover
for The Torch Keepers. It was such a fun process, and I loved every second of
it.
A few months later, after I beta read the book, I found a
font that screamed The Torch Keepers. So, naturally I had to create a
new-and-improved version of the fan-cover.
Fast forward a little while to when Hosanna won the
Storytellers award, and she asked me to
make the official cover!
I knew that somehow I had to make the cover blue and green, a desert, and blue and green fire.
Yeah it took a lot of attempts.
And then, after many small adjustments, we came up with the FINAL COVER!
The King's blue flame quivers as a new fire arises, and Kadira must hold fast to the torch. It's destiny; she's a torch keeper.
A fiery revolution sweeps across the kingdom of Érkeos, and each person must choose a side. Kadira, a girl set apart to serve the King, finds her city engulfed in emerald flames. Her blue eyes mark her as the enemy, and she flees from death. It stalks her anyway. When she meets Rekém, the Liberation warrior sent to kill her, she rebels against the King's ways. Two armies collide; indecision isn't an option. As hearts and lives hang in the balance, Kadira and Rekém could bring destruction or liberation to the entire kingdom.

I'm so excited for you!! Torch Keepers sounds really interesting. I love the colors on the cover! From what I've heard about the book it fits it perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteOh and some verses have have inspired me would probably be Habakkuk 3:17-19, learning to praise God even when things aren't going great.
DeleteTHANK YOU, Sarah!! I don't even know what to say; God is so good and faithful. ♥ And those verses you shared! Before reading your note, I had already read them this morning, and what encouragement within! I love how God works like that. =)
DeleteGirl, you've been such a sweet encouragement; thank you. *hugs*
Wow! I loved hearing your story behind The Torch Keepers! And those are some amazing covers you got to choose from! :)
ReplyDeleteA bible verse that has inspired me was Ezekiel 34:26
"I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing."
That verse is what inspired the name for my blog! <3
~Brooklyne
Brooklyne, you're amazing. Thank you so, so much! And I savor that verse you shared, as it mirrors what's often been my heart. Showers of Blessings is beautiful. ♥ Again your sweet notes mean so much to me! Thank you!
DeleteThis is so exciting for you, Hosanna - and for us, I look forward to reading it! When Alea says it's basically poetry, I totally believe her - you're blog posts always feel full of it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations <3!!! May the Lord use this book to bless others!!!
Aww, Bri, you're the best. ♥ When I was little, I didn't like poetry at all... and now I find myself savoring it! I never expected this path. It reminds me of a verse I read today, "Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip" (Psalm 18:35-36).
DeleteGirl, you are so encouraging! And I love that God has a path for us and is guiding us both down it, holding us with His arm. ♥ What adventures!
EEK! Girl this is very exciting! I'm fangirling over the cover -- gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDelete*hugs* I'm SO glad you like it like I do, Kara!! Really, I'm just blown away with where God has taken the cover! *fangirls with you*
DeleteI am very excited about your new book. The cover is awesome! Some verses I have been thinking about lately are 1 Thessalonians 3:12-15.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ashley
Wow, Ashley, those are lovely verses! ♥ And thank you for the encouragement too!! You're such a blessing, girl.
DeleteSo happy for you, Hosanna! <3 A verse that has inspired me is Joshua 1:9. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Molly!! You have been so encouraging in this adventure. And that verse! ♥ I appreciate you so much, girly!
DeleteI LOVE the cover!!! And I can't wait for the book to come out!!!
ReplyDeleteThis verse did not exactly inspire me, but I love it!
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.
Proverbs 14:27
Heidi, thank you SO much! God has been amazingly faithful with The Torch Keepers, so faithful. ♥ And what a beautiful verse - I love savoring His promises!
DeleteThis looks so cool! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteA verse God has really used in my life lately is Exodus 14:14 "The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace"
Ahhh - I'm so glad you like it, Julia!! God has incredible plans, way beyond our understanding; the verse you shared mirrors that powerfully. ♥ Thanks, girl!
DeleteCongratulations! I'm so excited for you :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! God is so faithful! ♥
DeleteI'm so excited for you, Hosanna! I can't wait to read your book. <3
ReplyDeleteRebekah, you are such a sweet encouragement!! The Torch Keepers has a ways to go yet, but I'm thrilled for it! And thank you for the blessing you are!!
DeleteThat cover is GORGEOUS! :D
ReplyDeleteI verse that tends to inspire me is Philippians 4:6-7 - "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
R.M., your words brightened my day! THANK YOU! I'm thrilled to see where God takes The Torch Keepers! And girl, Philippians has some of the most impacting passages ever. I'm so glad you shared them! ♥
DeleteAmazing cover! I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!!
DeleteHow fun to see all (or a large sample of) the covers that served as stepping stones to where you are now. And the last one is certainly the winner in my eyes! I'm thrilled, Hosannah! Where will the Lord take this, yet?
ReplyDeleteYES, Jordy!! I think of the verse, "the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Sam. 16:7). All I see are the flaws in The Torch Keepers, the deadlines I have to meet, the mistakes I've made. But what plans and future the Lord has! And what grace He always gives!
DeleteI treasure your sweet notes. ♥ Thank you, dear friend!
More importantly than the Lord looking at the heart of 'The Torch Keepers' when you look at the outward appearance is that He looks at YOUR heart. I trust He finds it in truer communion with Him every day. I trust He delights in walking with you as you work to meet the deadlines and find joy every step of the publication process.
DeleteAbsolutely, Jordy! What a treasure that He can see our hearts and loves us despite our weaknesses. He is so faithful. And I pray that we both come closer to Him every day. ♥
