Project Love: Neighbors

Here's the next part of Project Love in a vlog post.  =)

Psst...if the video didn't work for you, don't fear!  Here's a link to it on Youtube.  =)

I hope that inspired you to step out and love your neighbors!  Do you have other ideas to share?  How are you going to start loving others in a new way?

  1. This is such a wonderful and beautiful vlog you did, Hosanna! It is an area that I really need to be challenged in. And wow, what you said about them never being invited over for dinner is SO sad. Your family is an inspiration to me to get out and love our neighbors! =)

    1. I'm thankful that this vlog inspired you to reach out and love your neighbors! But I can't take credit for it; both of my parents have been diligent to teach us how to love through being hospitable and friendly themselves. What a blessing to have Godly parents. And yes, it's terrible that people live without ever reaching out to love those who live right next door. =( It's so easy for us to live in the same way as unbelievers instead of having a crazy, radical Love.

I'm excited to see where God brings you through this area of life, Hannah!!

    1. You're already pretty amazing in this area. ;) Thank you for living out Love and showing me what it looks like. I can't wait to get to know our neighbors better and love them like Christ loves us! What an adventure. =)

  3. Lovely vlog, Hosanna, and so encouraging! We know a lot of neighbors well, but a new couple moved in literally right next door and all I know is the lady's name. We haven't had a real conversation yet. Thanks to this vlog post, I have this urge to go right outside and get to it! XD

    1. YES, Lila!! First of all, I'm thrilled that you already know many of your neighbors - what a great place to start! And yes, go outside right now and get to it! ;) Lol. But really, what's keeping us back from simply showing kindness to others? We don't deserve Christ's unceasing Love. It's our turn to show Love to others and live for His glory alone. ♥

What an encouraging comment you shared. Thank you, Lila. =)

  4. Great vlog Hosanna!! Very encouraging.... we know a lot of our neighbors, though it's not like we talk to them all the time. My sister Emily, she loves animals and she takes our golden retriever, Lucy, out on walks. So she talks to our other neighbors who have dogs. I'm not as outgoing as she is but I agree that we do need to reach out.
    Thank you!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! Your sister's example is encouraging - building relationships with neighbors in a practical way! I think when you're not outgoing (like I am) it's even more important to step out. Naturally, I want to hide in my shell and not speak up. But loving others - especially when it's hard - is so important.

So let's step out and discover how God can use even our weaknesses to be a blessing to others. ♥ Thank you for sharing, my friend.

  5. I like the vlog. :) It's nice to hear you sharing verbally! And wow, what you said was convicting - God's given us the neighbours we have, and we can reach them in a way no one else can! It's something I've been 'meaning to do' for a while now, but of course intentions help no one. Thanks for the reminder/wakeup call!

It's harder in some ways because we live in a rural area - you can't just say hello over the back fence kind of thing! But I'm sure that means there are other different opportunities. Have you ever had something like a bonfire or pizza night and invited lots of neighbours over? I've always imagined doing that sometime.

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement! Keep on being a blessing! xx

    1. I'm glad you were blessed by the "wake-up call", Jess. That's a good term for it. I would like to see myself as sounding wake-up calls, trying to spur others towards Christ as I strive to do the same. What a calling...

My family lives in a rural place as well. Our neighbors aren't far, but we have to be deliberate to build relationships. (as you said, not an across the fence kind of thing) For us, reaching out to neighbors consists mainly of inviting them for a meal, bringing over garden vegetables, or stopping to chat when we go on a walk. But yes! A bonfire or pizza night would be amazing! I think we would like to do that sometime. If you get the chance to reach out in that way, please share how it goes! I would be thrilled to hear about it. =)

Thank you for the always encouraging comments, Jessica. And I'm enjoying The True Vine. It makes me think in a new way. Thanks for the recommendation. =)
