The Atlantic stretches across the world in a seemingly endless horizon. But as Maddie Poole steps on board a fleet headed to the New World, she embarks on an adventure where "bon voyage" is a distant memory.
Across the waters, Amonute, an Indian girl, watches as the year 1609 turns into winter. Bitter cold slices through the air. What began as the settler's exploration turns into mounds of earth, hiding the snow's buried victims. But as icy flakes cover the ground and are stained with blood, Amonute can't help the English. She finds herself faced with her worst adversary, the man who should have protected her.
With enemies on all sides, the two strangers face a world where death reigns and hate aims for the kill. Unless the tides change, James Fort might not make it to another summer.
